Dreaming about Snakes | Dream Meanings

dreaming about snakes
In Islamic spiritual interpretations, seeing a snake in a dream generally symbolizes an enemy, an ill-wisher, or a hidden threat. According to the views of Imam Ibn Sirin (رحمه الله), if a snake appears in a dream, it indicates that an enemy may be present around the dreamer or that some unseen danger could arise. If the snake appears large and frightening, it may signify a major difficulty or strong enmity the dreamer might face in real life.
The meaning can also vary depending on the color and condition of the snake. For example:
  • White snake → symbol of an enemy

  • Black snake → indicates a powerful enemy or a soldier

  • If the snake bites or harms the dreamer → it represents harm or trouble caused by an enemy

Furthermore, if the dreamer kills the snake and its blood comes on him, it symbolizes gaining wealth or benefit from the enemy. If the snake appears on the bed or around the neck, it may represent harm or even the possible death of a family member.
According to Imam Ismail Al-Ash‘ath (رحمه الله) as well, the snake is interpreted as a sign of an enemy. These interpretations depend on the details of the dream, such as the snake’s color, size, behavior, and the dreamer’s reaction. Therefore, the complete situation of the dream must be considered to understand its correct meaning from an Islamic perspective.
